The Residential Living Student Staff

Residential Living hires students in a several ways to help promote a safe living environment and promote community within the various housing options. In the residence halls, we have two student staff members living on each floor. In the efficiency apartments and the family housing apartments, we have a student staff member living in each building. We aim to make your on-campus living experience a memorable one for years to come.             

Resident Assistant (RA)

The Resident Assistant is a student staff member of the Office of Residential Living who assumes major responsibilities in a residence hall or apartment community for developing a safe environment conducive to comfortable living, academic excellence and personal growth.

As part of their job, RAs serve as role model for on-campus residents, this includes enforcing policies outline by Residential Living and the university. As a staff, the RAs plan activities and programs for the residents to build community and provide valuable resources for residents.

Student Office/Maintenance Worker

There are students who work with various other responsibilities within Residential Living who are referred to as Student Assistants. These students are employed for 20 hours per week on institutional funds (or work study). The student assistant work schedule can usually be adjusted to accommodate individual class schedules.

Student assistant positions include working in an office, doing minor maintenance/custodial work, and weekend facilities upkeep.
